Plums

My bosses' mom has a plum tree, and it put out a lot of fruit this year. We helped them by eating as many as we could. They make the perfect snack. But with this many, everyone would have to snack on, say, 12 to make a dent. So we made upside down plum cake. And then we made cute little plum cupcakes. And then we still had a bunch of plums left. So we made plum ice cream.
It was really easy to make. I got the recipe from this book. I love this book. Even the recipes for ice cream vessels (the chapter is really called that) are great. Plums simmer with sugar, then cream gets added. So pretty.

I didn't take a picture of the blending process, but it was just as lovely as this.

And, I finally remembered to use my ice cream cups. We make ice cream a few times a week. Really. (With 5 people, everyone only gets a few little scoops. Its not so much. Really.) But I rarely remember these special serving bowls. That night I did and the results were beautiful.

Another friend at work has brought in bags of avocados. Does it get any better than that? If only I knew someone with lobster pots!
