What a wonderful place

Embroidery is a slow craft. I love the colors of the floss (thread? yarn?) and the detail of the stitches, but it takes some time to complete. Luckily, I finished this in time to bring it with me to the lake for a housewarming/birthday present. My next project is a sweater, with big chunky yarn and fat needles. Should go pretty quickly.
This was Henry's second time fishing. He didn't catch anything, but had a great time casting in the rain for an hour.

I think Mae is expressing true joy in being at the lake. She, like the rest of us, had a wonderful trip full of classic lake experiences.

Here are the guys carrying up water for.........

this lovely fire that Henry (and Grandpa Dave) built. Safety first! Although there is no chance that anything could possibly catch on fire here due to the general sogginess. I think this fire was for salmon, one of four times we had salmon for dinner in 2 weeks! And honestly, it got tastier every time. Same goes for the corn and tomatoes.

The summertime porch ritual of polishing the nails. Even Mae's toes got painted.

"Okay, you be sleeping blooty and I'll be Cinderella."
"Come on Cinderella horse!" And it goes on like this...........
As always, a fantastic trip complete with thunderstorms, sailing, swimming, bugging, bike riding, boating, nature walking, a trip to Target, frogging, dam-building, playing with cousins (and cousin-like relatives) and general relaxing. Hope you all had as great a time as we did.
