It was really hot here over Labor Day weekend. Really hot. Like 100 degrees hot. We NEVER have heat like that. In fact, it rarely gets above
77 here. So, I thought it might be nice to go on a short hike after dinner. Usually, the temperature drops to the mid 60's at that time of day. Cold. Not this night. I was hoping for 80, but I'm afraid it only dropped to 99. Maybe 98. Hot. Really hot.
But that didn't deter anyone from racing to the trail head. This is Rattlesnake Creek, notice the lack of water. It hasn't really rained since April 21st. We only received 6" of rainfall during the past rainy season (Oct 2006-April 2007). This was a hot, dry hike.
Everyone had a blast, however. Lucy found a lovely spot to relax in the dust.
Mae got so hot that she actually had her hair in a ponytail.
Yay!
This was one of many water breaks. Despite those expressions, it really was a fun hike. We should do it more often. When its cooler.
We stopped at this really cool
park on our way back home. Everyone was amazed at the gorgeous view. It was still really hot though. Showers for all before bedtime. And a day at a friend's pool planned for the next day.
