Scrapple!

Get it?? Scrabble and Apples! A play on words during a game that involves word play. This is only the third time we've played Scrabble with kids. Mae played too this time. The game lasted for 90 minutes. 90 MINUTES! I can't think of anything we do that lasts that long. I was very impressed with their attention spans, not to mention their interest in spelling words.
Here is the board when we finished the game (remember you can click on the picture to make it bigger). I think we had five unused tiles. An 'A', a 'Q', a 'U', an 'R', and an 'E'. You would be surprised at how difficult that last sentence was to type.

I must say, I spent a lot of time suggesting which letters Henry and Mae should use, but this section was done entirely by individuals. I know proper nouns are not allowed, but how could I disqualify 'MAE' especially when it got 'AM' and 'PEE' at the same time? That was all Henry. He also came up with 'YEOW'. And while that is technically not a word (although I found it here), it is a sound made by cartoon characters all the time, perhaps spelled differently, but hey, he is only eight.

Another win today for Henry's soccer team. We're in the post season and we've already lost one game in the single elimination tournament, yet we're still playing. I'm not sure how this league works. Another game tomorrow, Go Galaxy!
