Thanksgiving/Halloween at the Blanks

It all started so lovely and sweet. Children sitting around the piano playing music together. What a joy! Ben played a few Christmas tunes, Matilda and Isabel "played" their own sort of music and everyone was having fun.

Then the food came out and Matilda went crazy! I swear she sat there for about 30 minutes just eating whatever was in front of her. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of the food but it was all amazing. We had the traditional turkey, mash potatoes, stuffing, dressing as well as a great green bean side that had feta and some other good stuff. There were sweet potatoes, my favorite, rolls, fruit salad and I am sure a few more things. I can't remember right now though. There was also desert...yum yum.
There were 4 pies (peach, apple, pumpkin and pecan) and they were all good.
Somewhere between dinner and pies it became Halloween. All of a sudden the kids showed up in disguise. We had a fireman (Ben), police officer (Josie), pirate (Isabel), vet (Emily), princess (Andrew), construction worker/engineer (Matilda). It was awesome. The kids had a blast and ended up trying on every costume Jen has in her house. Believe it or not, there were a lot of costumes - dinosaur, Pooh, Piglet, cat, tiger, monarch butterfly. Another successful holiday spent with the Blankenship's. We are so lucky to have such great friends that have made us a part of their family. Thanks!
