I love weekends

This is how we started out Sunday. A building project that involved everyone. Mae designed the headboard, Henry sanded the legs, John built the bed, I was the photographer (as usual), and Lucy, well, you'll see...

We took some time off from woodworking to cool down. It was really warm here this weekend so today we got out the slip and slide. Yesterday, we went to the beach. Even the ocean was swimmable. By adults! I wish I had a picture of the wave that had Henry boogie boarding, John body surfing and Mae bobbing. Amazing to think my little kiddos can truly enjoy the ocean.Another picture I wish I had was of the sunset last night. There was a small forest fire on the back side of the mountains, very close to where Henry and his class camped last month. The smoke came right over the mountains and obscured the sun from about 6:30 on. It was really pretty.

Okay, the moment you've all been waiting for. Lucy.... she gets to sleep in the bed! I know, 3.25 years old is quite old for getting a real bed, but we haven't had the space for another single bed (still don't) so we let her stay in her crib for as long as she would allow it. Now, she's in her own, small bed. (Check out that blanket. It is super soft as well as really pretty! If you are so inclined, click here to see a bunch of other crocheters and their rippley projects)

Maybe someday we'll get around to painting the bed. Doubtful. Sleep tight Lucy.
