This time of year is both exiting and ugly in the garden. Only one tomato plant is still around and it is really brown (read dead). There are a few
zucchinis still kicking out an
occasional fruit. The eggplant is flowering right now, not sure why. We've eaten a bunch of them already, but maybe round two is coming soon. And my second tower of beans is covered with, well... beans. We've had them twice this week already and its only Tuesday. Anyone know of any good green bean recipes?
The grape vine is covered in ripening clusters of very grape-y grapes. They have seeds, which is a bummer, but makes for fun spitting in the back yard. The fig (not
pictured) is also heavy with ripe fruit. It looks ugly too, all its leaves are brown.
Here's our little pumpkin buddy. We have the opposite problem as
Jil. We hope that ours will ripen in time to be orange by Halloween. Keep your fingers crossed.
I'm hoping to figure out (and then plant) a winter garden this year. Stay tuned.
