Beach afternoon & Owl Pellets

I forgot to upload the pictures in reverse order today, so here are the highlights of today going backwards. It was so warm we just had to go to the beach this afternoon. School gets out early on Fridays, so as soon as we got home, we quickly got into our suits, grabbed out towels and headed right back out. John got off early too (which is why you see me above). Yay!
Here we are headed to the ocean. The water was pretty cold, but fun with great little waves.

Mae's class dissected owl pellets today. I have always wanted to do this. I must say, there is a fine line between fascinating and disgusting and this project is pretty evenly spread between the two. We hit the jackpot with our pellet: 3 skulls (2 rodents, 1 bird) and assorted other bones. It was pretty amazing and the kids were completely engrossed. Added bonus: we got to take some of the bones home.

Wow! How can you beat owl pellets and a day at the beach? I hope the kids took a good salt water bath at the beach to get rid of the owl cooties!
