Nearly three loaves of ripped bread. It looks like a lot, but it smushes down when you pour 1 pound of melted butter over it.
The turkey. We did have to get out the tweezers and pull some remaining feather follicles (?) out of the skin, but other than that the bird looked great.
Three and an a half hours and another half pound of butter later.... a beautifully browned turkey.
Carving the bird.
This is my plate. What? No stuffing? No rolls? I forgot. But only for a little while. I had plenty of both later. Oh, and cranberry sauce. Of course we had some but I really don't like it, even if it would have looked beautiful on the plate. Next year I'll get a food stylist.
This is the pumpkin from the backyard. I cooked it last night then made the pie this morning.
A few fingers got into the pie a little early. Despite the odd color (both in the photo and real life), the pie tasted great, everyone finished theirs. We also had apple crisp with ice cream. It tasted great, too.

And the turkey? I'm sure you're all wondering how it tasted. It was really wonderful. Juicy, flavorful, firm. Everything we had hoped for. We had a successful locally grown (mostly) organic (mostly) Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had as yummy and fun day as we did.
