Gingerbread House

This was such a fun thing to make. But it was not easy, or cheap. First thing was a visit to the candy store with everyone. It was loads of fun. Believe it or not, we spent closer to $100 than to $0. Yikes, but look at this booty! I don't have any pictures of baking the gingerbread, but it was a lot like baking any other cookie. In addition to the house, we also cut out Christmas shapes. I'll post the frosting of those another day.
I'm very pleased with the outcome but making everything by hand was not easy. It was kind of like building a house. It is difficult to do when the walls are not square, there are no 90 degree angles and the wood is all warped. Fortunately, the icing did a good job holding everything together. I cheated and used two pins to help hold on the roof.
It was Mae's idea to put the candy canes on in a heart shape. I love it. The pine cone was Henry's addition.

How cute is this?

How brave of you to make it all yourself. We have gingerbread houses that i bought and we get to assemble. Should be a good time.
