Isabel's class has been learning about Alaska. What a great way to end that segment by doing an Ikidarod (play on words of the Iditarod). Each of the three 2nd grade classes were broken into 3 teams. Each team had about 5-8 kids. There was a musher and sled dogs. The sled dogs had to work as a group dragging a plastic sled filled with water bottles, snack food and blankets around a field on the side of the school. There were check points along with way manned by 5th graders. They had to stop at each check point and the musher had to answer questions about Alaska. It was really cute.
