This was the view from our back porch on Friday night around 10pm. It looks way worse than it really was as the fire was much higher up on the mountains than earlier in the day. At this point, the fire fighters just let the fire burn because there were no homes in danger. The results were spectacular flames.I was very relieved to wake up to a pretty foggy morning today (Saturday) meaning low temperatures and high humidity. Phew. The fire is 30% contained and not spreading to neighborhoods.
These flames are from Thursday night and were pretty dang big, but again pretty high up (above where the last fire burned). It was super windy that night as you can tell from the direction of the smoke. Not good. Our neighborhood officially became an evacuation warning zone on Friday meaning you have to be ready to leave at any moment.

A fire retardant drop. Pretty cool to watch. It didn't stop the fire from burning this area (see above photo) but it definitely did slow it down.
This is our little pool which came in very handy during this heat wave and days home from school.
We also made pretzels that were fabulous! The recipe can be found here. Please go make these. They were easy, fun and yummy.
The dough resting.
