Finally Fall

Just last weekend it finally got cool around here. Cool enough to pick up this thick warm yarn and make something. I'm not sure what I think about this pattern, but it was really fast to knit up (size 17 needles!!!).
Aren't these the cutest pumpkins you ever did see? I made the crochet ones and Mae needle felted the one in front. I love hers the most!
And since it had not been very cool yet this year, we've had to make our own fall leaves. This one is water colors on coffee filter paper, then cut out in leaf shape. I made a bunch and stuck them to the window. If you look closely you can see water (?) on the outside of the window. What the heck makes water outside?? RAIN! Our first real rainfall since April. Very exciting. We got almost four inches. The gardens are very happy.

Sunday in the suburbs

I love Sunday's. Usually it's because I don't have to work. This week was even better, I didn't travel, Chance was home and the weather was great. The morning started with 3 girls in bed with us. There is something so fun about everyone snuggling in the morning.

Once we got going there was a little creative writing time. I think I finally have my lefty. I was worried I would have to keep on having more kids. I think Matilda is going to come through. I know it is a little early to tell but she does many fine motor skills with her left.

Next came the picnic outside for lunch. Like I said, the weather was beautiful today, 75 and not a cloud in the sky.

Early afternoon on the weekends usually means a trip down to the end of the cul-de-sac. Today was no exception. Once we got down there, people started flowing out of their houses. Before you knew it, everyone was out and having fun together. The best part was playing in the fall leaves (with a tea party mixed in). It was so neat to watch all these kids, age 1-11 playing together, having fun raking leaves and jumping in them. We were outside for at least an hour, playing around and hanging out.
I am so glad we live where we do!
