Josie, the good and the bad

This past weekend Josie had her Spring Dance Performance.  She did great.  She danced a routine with her Hip Hop class and a routine with a Special Needs Hip Hop class that she volunteers for.  After the performances she was back stage hanging out.  She walked to get a drink from the drinking fountain and as she took a step from a carpeted area to a concrete area she heard a pop, then a lot of pain.  After the show we took her to the ER and turns out she broke the 5th metatarsal in her left foot.  She is in a walking boot and is non weight bearing right now.  We go back to the doctor Tuesday for a follow up visit.  Hopefully no cast!

On the plus side, two weekends ago she played in a soccer tournament in Grand Junction, CO and did great!  She plays goal keeper the first half and then defense the second half.  She didn't let a goal in the entire tournament!  This was her last game ever, she has decided to quit soccer and focus more time and attention to dance.  Hopefully her foot heals quickly!

CU Soccer game

Josie's team got to walk out during the introductions during the Colorado/St. Mary's soccer game a few weeks ago.  A girl that used to babysit for us works at CU and is in charge of organizing teams to be ball girls and walk out with the teams.  They had so much fun!

Josie has been really getting in to dance lately.  She took two separate hip hop classes and is also taking ballet.  These are some pictures from the recital from one of her hip hop classes.  She did a great job.  

I have tried to upload the rough video I took with my phone of the performance and haven't gotten it to work.  I put it on YouTube and have included the link here.  I haven't always been too successful with that either.  I hope it works.

These two goofballs got on stage when we were cleaning up after the recital and showed some of their moves.  Let's keep them on the soccer field!

Josie is 10!!!

I can't believe Josie is 10!  Wow double digits.  We opened presents on her birthday before school as well as consuming a large amount of sugary cereal.

 On Saturday night Josie had two friends come to dinner and spend the night.  We went to Benihana, it was a huge hit.  We had a great time and the food was so yummy.  Candace made cupcakes for the girls to decorate themselves, but everyone was so full after dinner, we did it in the morning.  All in all it was a great four day celebration of one amazing kid.

Josie's end of soccer

Josie's last soccer game was last weekend.  It was a make-up game from the week before that when there was snow on the ground.  A few action shots of Jojo, as well as some of her and her coach.  Chance is helping coach Josie's team this year.  It's been fun to see them working together and watching the team grow and improve under his tutelage.

Weekending

Grandpa Dave and Grandma Carol were here this past weekend (although you wouldn't know it from this set of pictures).  We were busy with life, soccer, work, fun and food.  It was a great weekend all the way around.  Here are a few of the pictures.

Happy Birthday Josie!

Josie is 8 years old! We celebrated Friday night since everyone was home, nobody had soccer or homework and we could sleep in the next day (not that we did). We started by opening presents after school, then we went to Boulder for an amazing sushi dinner and then home for cake (made by Candace). It was such a fun night for such a fun girl. Happy Birthday Josie.

Today Josie turned 7...I can't believe it! Here is a little scene of Josie's birthday presents.

We made cupcakes in ice cream cones. Josie, Tilly and I decorated them this morning.

One thing Josie wanted for her birthday was to go to the Rockies game with a friend (beats having a birthday party). So, this afternoon Chance took Isabel, Josie and her friend Edgar to the game against the Marlins. We have been having horrible weather lately, lots of rain and even some snow but today the precipitation held off until after the game. They had a blast. They came home so excited about baseball, if only they had been playing the Yankees.

I though this was funny...notice the cards from the aunts...although they live many miles away from each other they select the same envelope for Josie's card.
