After today, the days get longer and the nights get shorter! Hallelujah.

For us, solstice is all about warm yellow-orange things. This year we made suns.

Mae made this happy little one.

I added a few more suns and the crochet garland.

Another tradition is baking sun bread. The book is a wonderful story about a baker who bakes everyone out of their winter grumpiness. The illustrations are beautiful. The recipe on the back cover is so-so, but we make it year after year anyway.

This year everyone helped.

And posed.

I wish I had a picture of the finished bread, but it was eaten too quickly. It was good.
