Halloween!

This year we had a Race Car Driver (Danica Patrick), a nerd and Minnie Mouse.  I don't have any pictures of the school parade downtown because I was working that day.  I was working at the school and I was assigned to crossing guard duty.  You can always look back to past years, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.

Pumpkins!

Sorry, it's been a while.  But I'm back (with the help of a little pressure from some facebook friends).  I will try to catch up in the next week or so but I am going to start with the pumpkin patch.  We went to Rock Creek Farms to pick our own pumpkins.  It was a gorgeous day and we had a blast.

The day before Halloween we carved all the pumpkins, believe it or not, I don't have a picture of the finished products.  Sorry.

Halloween pictures to come...

Happy Halloween (just a little late).

We had a great Halloween this year.  Anytime the kids can wear their costumes without winter jackets on top is fantastic!
Tilly and Candace made cake pops for Tilly's class party.
Tilly walking in the annual LES parade through downtown Louisville.  It was weird not to have Isabel there this year.
Candace (Jessie from Toy Story) and Tilly (Monster High Doll) went out trick-or-treating together.
Josie (Tuchdown Cutie) and Isabel (Dalmation) went together.
Everyone got lots of candy.  Luckily, this year, the elementary school collected candy for the troops.  For each pound of candy they got a certain amount of money and the school with the most wins a bonus.  Our school won!!!  We contributed a bit to that victory.

Happy Halloween!

We pulled it off yet again!
Like every other year, there was indecision.
Indecision about costumes, where to trick or treat, whose party to attend.
 But we did it. With some last minute thrifting, hot glue and crochet we managed to put 4 costumes together;
Tourist, witch, Mrs Claus and Mr. Bacon.
Have you ever seen Mae and this much pink in the same room?
We carved a small pumpkin from the garden.
Everyone was happy and lots of candy was brought home.
Hope your Halloween was wonderful, too!

Halloween farther west

Most years, the kids have no idea what they want to be until the last minute. This year was different. Lucy had been planning to be Dorothy since August! We never found a pair of ruby slippers but that didn't seem to bother her. She was happy in her silver sandals.
Henry was a shadow and Mae was an albino bumble bee. Pretty easy costumes to pull together.

This is from too much sugar!!!
Look at those piles. Ridiculous really.
Less ridiculous when arranged in rainbow order.

I've got more pictures to post of G. Dave and G. Carol's visit, stay tuned.

Happy Halloween!

We did some pumpkin carving last week. Lots of seeds and goo...yummy!
It was so nice for Halloween this year. No snow or ice on the ground, temperatures above 45 and crystal clear skies. You can't ask for much more here in Colorado. By the way, it snowed about 8" last night!

also Halloween

Here is Mae sorting and tallying her take, notice the calculator under her arm. Halloween Math. And Lucy read many of the candy labels that she got. Halloween Language Arts. They ran from house to house. Halloween P.E. The only things missing are science and music. It's almost like school.

I did not get one picture of my crew dressed up. Sorry about that. Mae was a black cat - with wings. Lucy was a butterfly. Henry was a shadow (dressed all in black). Not very exciting, however they all got their costumes together and got dressed completely on their own. Love that!

Happy (the day after) Halloween!

We did our usual pumpkin carving, but this year we had a lot of pumpkins (7).
That big one (32lbs) is from the school garden. Actually, they all were except for two scrawny misshapen ones from our yard.
All those pumpkins gave us lots of delicious seeds and smiles.
Cinderella.
Cookie monster.
Henry was a pizza delivery guy, but he was too quick to run off trick-or-treating with his friends, so I didn't get a picture of him.

These are brownies covered in vanilla candy melts (inspiration here). Pretty tasty.

Hope you all had a great weekend of Halloween goodness, too!

Happy Halloween!

Wow, we have had a lot of Halloween fun around here lately. It started Friday with the annual Louisville Elementary School Parade through downtown. We were a little worried it wouldn't happen due to snow days on Wednesday and Thursday. Much of the snow melted and it wasn't anywhere near as cold as they said it would be that morning (it was 45 degrees).
Next came a Halloween party at the barn on Saturday morning. The girls sort of dressed up (I didn't want them to get everything all dirty and stinky for the night). They played games on the horses - carrying an egg on a spoon, relay races stuff like that. It was also a brunch pot luck so I had a chance to make cinnamon rolls again, they went quickly. Finally it was Halloween night. The girls aka Wednesday Addams, Geisha Girl and Super Girl got all dressed and ready and met up with the neighborhood kids. We had a blast trick-or-treating around the hood with 10-12 kids. Tilly was especially into it this year, I think this was her first year she really understood that people would keep giving her candy if she went and rang the doorbell.
