On The Road Again...Heading Home

On the way to Utah we went north on I-25 toward Wyoming then west across I-80.  A simple drive.  All straight lines for the most part.  On the way home, we (I) decided to go south out of Park City on US 40 then picked up US 191 and finally got on I-70 heading east.  We spent the night in Grand Junction, CO, more pool time!  These are some pictures from the various rest areas and pit stops along the way.

All in all it was an amazing trip.  We had such a good time!

Fun in Park City - Part 2

The rest of the weekend in Park City was spent lounging by the pool, playing basketball at the hotel, doing crafts at the activities center and catching up with old friends.
Enjoying another day by the pool.
Isa and Tilly hooping it up!
Making decorative vases in the activities center.
I met up with Kimba Brown for an afternoon of catch up.  She was in our wedding (which by the way we just celebrated 16 years together).  Kimba lives in Park City so she was able to come over and spend some time with us.  It was great to see her.  It had been a long time.
I don't think I can say too much about this picture!
One last shot of me, Beth and the girls before we headed out of town for the drive home.

Fun in Park City - Part 1

The whole reason this road trip to Utah even got off the ground was because my friend Beth (she is the head coach at Utah) turned 50 and had a "Birthday Weekend" in Park City.  We got up to Park City of Friday afternoon and went straight to the Alpine Slide.
That's Beth on the far left, happy birthday Beth!

Isa was really excited to go.  We did this a few years ago when Ray and Liz got married and Isa was really scared.  This time she was more prepared.

Josie was also pretty excited.  She went off on her own track and had a blast.

Tilly thought she was excited, but really she was scared.  After about 10 minutes of her not making the sled go at all...
...I finally climbed on with her, which we weren't supposed to do because she was too tall.  Oh well.  On an alpine slide you push the lever forward to go faster and pull back to go slower.  The whole way down I was pushing forward and Tilly was pulling back.  When she got off at the end, she said it was fun!

Isa and Tilly did the Flying Eagle.  It's a mini zip line type thing.  You sit in the chair and it pulls you backwards up the hill and then lets you go.  They both liked that.

Josie, my roller coaster girl, did this ride with me.  We each had our own coaster, you get pulled up the hill like a roller coaster and they you coast down (pretty fast).  It was awesome!

Hiking with Uncle Kenneth

One of the days in Salt Lake City we drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the Brighton Ski Resort.  Our intention was to find the trail head and take a hike to a pretty mountain lake.  We never found the trail head so we just wandered around in the general direction of the lake hoping to find it, we didn't.  We finally decided to turn around and head back down.  Although there was some complaining about the hike in general, we had a good time even though we never got to the lake.

Pool & Museum

We had a great week in Utah.  We started in Salt Lake City at Grandpa Ray's house.  It was quite relaxing.  They have a pool in their backyard so we spent a lot of time swimming and playing around the house.  We also went to the Natural History Museum of Utah with Uncle Kenneth.  They just built it a year or so ago.  It is an amazing building that blends perfectly with the side of the mountain it is built into.  Ray is on the board at the museum so we got a special behind the scenes tour from one of the paleontologists.  It was really cool.

Road Tripping to Utah, via Wyoming

A friend of mine from Salt Lake is having her 50th Birthday Party Weekend in Park City this weekend.  We decided to come out early to stay with Grandpa Ray and Grandma Liz for the week.  We also decided (well I decided) to drive to Utah.  I called my friend Jill who I played volleyball with at Wyoming to see if we could crash at her house in Laramie on the way.  We met up at Vedauwoo, a really cool rock climbing, hiking, scrambling place between Cheyenne and Laramie.  She brought 2 of her 3 daughters and a picnic and everyone had a blast.

We went back to their house to hang out and have dinner.  After a fashion show (there were 6 girls in the house) we went Four Wheeling around the neighborhood and open space nearby.  I had never driven a 4Wheeler before.  It was so fun!

After dinner some of us went to the barn where Alexis (the oldest daughter) keeps her horse Shooter.  We got a tour of the barn and Isabel and Matilda even got to ride him bareback.

Anyone recognize this house?  It's my the house I lived in for 2 years in college, still cute as ever.

After about 3 hours of driving everyone was getting restless.  It just so happened that we were driving through Green River so we stopped and played and got dirty and had fun!

We are now in Salt Lake having a great time, more pictures to come soon.  Plus I still have some old pictures to post as well.

Utah Christmas - part 2

On New Year's Eve we went bowling with Grandpa Ray and Grandma Liz and some of their friends.  It was a lot of fun.  We also played air hockey which my be the best game ever!

We went skiing two days when we were in Utah.  Once when Chance was there and once after he left.  It was awesome.  The second day was a little cold, 5 degrees.  We made a lot of hot chocolate stops that day.  The first picture is Jil and Tilly, the next is Isabel, Elizabeth and Jil.

More hair and make-up time with Aunt Elizabeth!
