We're not out of the woods yet

So, what do you do when you're not yet in the mandatory evacuation zone and it is hotter than h-e-double hockey sticks outside? Slip'n'slide of course. The color in these pictures is a bit weird because there was so much smoke covering the sun. It was really hot, like 94 and less than 20% humidity. Even I took a few slides to cool down.
After a while, I got a bit nervous due to the huge plume of smoke that was blowing directly over our house so I went inside to watch tv coverage and get some packing done just in case.

Pretty scary. Not that different from the Tea Fire 6 months ago.

Zoom from the back porch. If you embiggen this picture, you can see flames. Not good.

Until about 7pm it was really windy, gusts up to 60mph. The fire quadrupled and starting going into neighborhoods. Many house have burned. Now at 9 it is much calmer but we can still see red glowing areas up in the foothills. I'll try to post again tomorrow to let everyone know what's going on.
