Spring Break - Tucson - part 3...The Biosphere 2

One day we went to The Biosphere 2.  It's this really cool place north of Tucson where they built a self contained fully sustainable set of buildings that 8 people lived in for 2 years without coming out.

Spring Break - Tucson - Part 1

We went to Tucson for Spring Break to visit Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Bart.  It was great.  Beautiful weather, a mix of things to do and relaxation, and some great food and family time.

The girls found the dress up crate the first day we were there.

The girls (and Chance a little) did a lot of swimming.  The heater in the pool was broken so I did a lot of supervising pool side, with a book in hand of course.

Arts & crafts time.

Tucson part II

We were lucky enough to have snow in Tucson. In fact it was snowing up on Mt Lemmon. It was great, we threw snowballs, built a snowman (that Grandpa Bart smashed!), and had hot chocolate. Then we drove back down the mountain and went in the pool!
We went on a lovely walk at sunset after eating a huge delicious Thanksgiving meal.
Hot tub after snow play. Ahhhhh.
If anyone needs a last minute gift idea for me.....a hot tub would be perfect.
This is the previously mentioned sunset. Amazing.

We're on our first day of holiday vacation today!!!
Merrymaking is underway.

Thanksgiving in Tucson

We changed things up a bit this year and drove south (well, mostly east) instead of our usual north. Tucson was our destination. The drive was pleasant enough; not too long, not at all cold. We got there pretty quickly and saw a lot of cactus and cotton along the way.
Grandma Cindy has a lot of vintage View-Master reels. Henry looked at all of them.
Lucy spent a lot of time with Cactus the cat. Cactus was pretty mellow and liked most of the attention she received.
We went to a miniature museum, The Mini Time Machine. I took so many pictures; mini shoes, mini potter's studio, mini kitchen, mini aquarium, dollhouses and the above mini vegetable garden. It was a super fun place to visit.
I also took a lot of sunset pictures. The light in Tucson is very special and there is a whole lot of sky. Luckily, I have one kid who doesn't mind being photographed. I'll post some more pictures soon. Grandma Cindy has some up on Desert Grandparents. She took all the good snow-day pictures.

Sushi--dedicated to Mae

We made sushi last weekend and it was good. It was entirely Mae's idea because she loves a good california roll! Or four! So we assembled all the ingredients, fake crab and all.
She set the table using our neighbor's best sushi ensemble.
And we sat down and ate. The sushi chef (me) could not keep up with the eaters.
We did rice on the outside and rice on the inside.
The flash made these pictures very bright, sorry 'bout that.

Right this minute, Mae is out to birthday dinner (sushi, of course) with Grandpa Bart (happy birthday Bart!) and Grandma Cindy. IN ARIZONA! Where she has been for 7 days. We miss you Mae, can't wait to see you tomorrow and hear all about your trip.

Long Weekend in Tucson

This past weekend the girls and I went to Tucson. Isabel had Friday, Monday, Tuesday off of school and I wasn't traveling for work!!! It was a blast. Ofcourse I took way too many pictures (250 to be exact) but I can't help myself. I also let Isabel and Josie have the camera at the zoo and a few other times throughout the weekend. Here is a collection of the best of the weekend. Enjoy.
