Before we left for NJ we spent the day at the Denver Zoo.  We had a really good time, we hadn't been in a while (at least not as a group).

I am not really sure what is happening in the next three pictures - you can decide for yourself.

Summer Fun

Izzy and I ran the Taste of Louisville 5K this past weekend. It is a really cool race that starts at the middle school, runs through main street, out on to the Coal Creek Trail and then finishes back at main street. It started off great, I kept up with Isabel for about a block or so and then she was out of sight. As she was running down main street she was following behind a guy who got out of the way of a parked car at the last minute...she couldn't see the car behind him and ran right in to it, shoulder first and fell back on her butt. A friendly runner helped her up and was walking her back towards the start of the race when I came upon her. We walked for a couple of minutes. She was in a lot of pain in her shoulder and her bottom. There were actual tears and for all of those who know Isabel well, that means she was really hurting. She decided she wanted to keep going and started running again. She lost me again...at least I kept her in my sights this time. Izzy finished in 28:03 and I wasn't too far behind with a time of 28:47. Not bad for stopping mid race for a couple of minutes.

Candace went home last weekend to surprise her mom for her birthday! We picked her up at the airport and went right to the zoo. It was a hot day, but lots of fun.

Update

It's been a while since our last post. It's not that we haven't been doing anything. Quite the contrary. I feel like we have been super busy doing all sorts of cool things. Here are a few updates...more to come soon.

Josie got a Slip-N-Slide for her birthday and we had the opportunity to get it out a while ago. It has to tracks so they can go at the same time and race. All we need, one more thing for them to be competitive about :) The first one to reach the checkered flag at the end wins.

Candace's sister Kristi came in town to visit so we promptly took her to the zoo. We had a great time hanging with Tilly.

We also put Kristi to work cleaning up after the Deck Demolition.

We had 2.75 tons of junk to drop off at the dump. Thank goodness that is finished. Now on to a new deck...someday.

Zoo Lights and Sewing

For a few years now I have said that I want to go to the Zoo Lights at the Denver Zoo. Finally this year we went. It was really amazing. The zoo stages all sorts of lights in animal patterns and cool colors throughout the grounds. I even took a few pictures without any kids in it because I thought it was so cool.

Speaking of the pants, you'll never guess who made them...me! Plus I made Izzy's hat and Josie's hat in the zoo pictures. I have been sewing like crazy lately. Dare I say I am addicted? Yes, that is safe to say. My next post will have some pictures of my handiwork.

Josie, Tilly and I went for a walk the other day and it turned in to a "chase mom with snow run" instead. It was fun, although the sun fooled us and we weren't quite dressed warmly enough.

Speaking of the sun...I am tired of this cold weather. I have been waiting plenty of five minute increments for the weather to change and it just isn't happening. I know what you are saying, well you do live in Colorado and it is winter. I realize that. I have lived here for 10 years now and I swear we haven't had a winter like this before. We have had snow on the ground since before Thanksgiving. That is unheard of here. Usually it snows, we love it and play in it and then it melts within the week because it is 50 degrees one day. Okay enough of that...I am bracing myself for single digits again tomorrow (turn on that electric blanket).

Field Day at the Zoo

Ok so the title is a combination of two things that went on last Friday (sorry for the delay, i have been having a hard time uploading the pictures for some reason). The day started at Isabel's school where it was Field Day. The hurdles were a pretty popular event. Then Matilda and I went to the zoo (with our friend Jen and baby Owen) just the two of us. It was a blast. She loved being able to take all the time she wanted looking at the animals without a big sister "encouraging" her to move on.
